What we collect
Information you provide - The information you provide during the registration process, such as your name and address, is stored by SmallerCity to ensure that the services we provide to you are useful and relevant. Your password is encrypted before it is stored. This means that we cannot recover your password (although lost passwords can be reset). Any additional information you provide while using the site, such as when creating a group or announcement, is collected by SmallerCity.
Usage statistics - When using the SmallerCity service we collect your browser type and IP address. To confirm that you are logged in, SmallerCity uses a session ID cookie that terminates when you close the browser or choose to log out. A cookie is a small file that contains data that uniquely identifies your browser and ties it to the services we provide online. For example, the cookie enables us to provide user-specific content, such as your customized mailbox. While logged in, you may browse through events, announcements, groups, and news, as well as various other channels. We collect this information to help provide you with more relevant content and to improve the SmallerCity service. Additional information about usage is collected using the Google Analytics service.
User communications - Communications between you and SmallerCity, such as support questions, may be stored by SmallerCity to improve the user experience.
Links - SmallerCity may collect information on some of the links you visit. For example, we collect which news articles you view on the news page. This is necessary to create statistics about the most popular articles and to prevent specific users from gaming the ranking system by clicking on the same article multiple times. Once you leave the site, SmallerCity cannot and will not collect information on what web pages you visit.
